THE BURNING WORLD is finished

Last weekend I read a book that I've read dozens of times already. Usually when I read this book, I get angry and dismayed and I want to change things about it, but yesterday I had a strange experience. I finished the book, and I didn't want to change anything. I read the last page and I thought, “You know what? It works. That was a damn good book." And then I sent that book to my publisher and said, “Publish this!"

The Burning World is finished.

According to the counter below, it still has to wait 272 days to take its place on the shelf (February 7) but there's a lot to do in that time. As I type this, it's being read by copyeditors and formatted by production managers. Very soon it'll be wrapped in a beautiful cover. Then it'll begin its journey through the world, facing the piercing gaze of reviewers, passing from sales teams to booksellers to other booksellers via word of mouth and sleight of hand. It might even come to you for help.

Meanwhile...it's been a very long three years. I've poured everything I have into this story, and I'm empty. Somebody pour me a drink.
